I am watching Julie & Julia and it made me wonder if that is what I am trying to do except without cooking.
So here I am getting ready to start a new book as if it is a new recipe. Savoring it, tasting it, smelling it, and digesting it. Pretending that every word is a new ingredient with each chapter another course in the meal. As Julia's husband said, 'you are the butter to my bread and the breathe to my life'. Is this not how a book can make you feel? You can not wait to come back and see what the next word is going to be, to hold it in your hands, share a glass of wine and dream about it.
A book is something to cry with, laugh with, share the love with others, and fall into the story.
Go forth and fall in love with your next book and the next characters.........
LOVE YOUR MEMORIES...Take time to scrap you FAMILY and READING memories and let your Kindle read to you....Remember yesterday, dream about tomorrow, but love for today

Kindle Singles
Compelling Ideas Expressed at Their Natural LengthEach Kindle Single presents a compelling idea--well researched, well argued, and well illustrated--expressed at its natural length. From an elaborate bank heist in Lifted, to Congolese rebel camps in The Invisible Enemy, to Jodi Picoult’s moving portrayal of family in Leaving Home, they offer nuanced journeys of both fact and fiction. This first set of Singles was selected by our team of editors, and includes works by Rich Cohen, Pete Hamill, Darin Strauss, and Ian Ayres. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we have.
Leaving Home: Short Pieces by Jodi Picoult The deep pains and powerful pleasures of parenting: those are the extremes explored here by the extraordinary novelist Jodi Picoult. In three short pieces that display her wide emotional range, Picoult weaves together stories of love and loss with heartbreaking simplicity.

Darkstar by Christopher R. Howard
In this pre-apocalyptic love story, Sailor, a homeless Irish teenager who’s haunted by a diabolical voice, seeks to reunite with a soul mate he hasn’t seen since boyhood, as a cosmic event threatens to extinguish life on Earth. Howard’s fiction has appeared in McSweeney’s, and his first novel, Tea of Ulaanbaatar, comes out this May.

Okay my opinion is that these are just short stories but it seems like a lot of money for something that short. I know that if it is a good story then it would be worth it but I dont think this is going to go over very well. I would just recommend that you look at the FILE SIZE to see if you are buying a 'Single' or not. I think the 'Single' means that it is one short story instead of getting three or more in one book.
What do you think of this?

$.99 Book for today
Wish List [Kindle Edition]
When Buddy Pancake and his drinking buddies stumble across the Wish List website, they jokingly post their “impossible” wishes. Imagine their surprise when, one by one, the wishes start coming true! But Buddy and his pals neglected to read the fine print explaining the price they must pay for the wishes they’ve been granted.
Wish list is a compelling, nail-biting, laugh-out-loud thriller in the tradition of Saving Rachel.
From looking at his books, John Locke, they are all about the $.99 price right now. From reading the information on them, they might appeal to the men in our lives more than to us but they need to read also.
Hug your Kindle and your man (even if they are the same..lol)

TGIM !
Thank Goodness I'm Me !!!
Who else would put up with me but me?
I looked at the free books today and they were business books....yuck! I want to read something fun and light and interesting and sometimes heavy but I got enough of reading business books when I worked.
What would you like to see in the Kindle if you got to design the next generation?
1. A larger or different kind of 5-way controller
2. A slide out full keyboard (how often do you use a keyboard anyway)
3. A larger screen
4. Collections within collections
5. Page numbers that match the hard back book
Things I dont care about:
1. Ability to download library books (buy a Sony)
2. Color screen (it would use more battery and color for what?)
3. Touch screen (when you hug your Kindle the touch screen would be a problem)
4. Internet browser (I would get an Ipad or a Kindle DX if I wanted something more than an ereader)
5. Music player (that is why I have an Ipod)
What would you upgrade in your Kindle?

Life thoughts
I dont want to get heavy with the thoughts on how to live your life, but I wanted to share a thought on mine.
For some reason today I talked about laundry to one of my daughters' and to a friend, She said that she didnt think it was something she did well and I told him that he needed to do his own laundry because no one could do it to suit him (which he agreed).
It brought a thought as to how I have lived my life.
How, you ask. I know that I am not a good cook, not one to have a white glove home, do not do any ironing, and do not care that I am bad at all of those. I love to work in the yard and always have a project or twelve started out there.
But there is a method to my madness. If something happened to me before my dear husband, I didnt want his 2nd wife to have to worry about doing things as well as I did. She wouldnt have to listen to him saying or worry about him thinking that her cooking or cleaning wasnt as good as mine. He would be thankful that she didnt like to do yard work because then he wouldnt have to do anything but mow.
So it was all about him and I did all that (or didnt do all of that) for him and his 2nd wife.
Wasnt I thoughtful?
I hope this helps everyone when you think of how you could be doing something better. You are thinking only of him and how happy he will be with his next wife, knowing all along how you will be happier with your 2nd husband because he has to do something better than your 1st.
Give your husband a big hug and kiss and thank him for not taking the garbage out before it stinks or for not picking up his dirty clothes. You know he is doing that just for you.
Have a smile a day.

New project for the weekend
I got a Zutter Bind-It-All recently and havent made anything with it YET. But now I have the perfect project., I am going to make a reading book. I can make it the size of a DTB (dead tree book - one printed on paper) and then I will take a picture of the cover of the books I have read, date when I finished reading it, rate it and give a description.
Looking back on the books that I read last year, I could remember that some of the books were good but I couldnt tell you what they were about. Okay, the were mostly about vampires but would I recommend any of them or reread any of them? I dont remember. So with my new project I will see how many books I read in a year and be able to remember more about them.
I will still post the favorite ones here and let you know which ones I recommend everyone read, but this also gets me back in my scraproom.
I would like to hear what everyone else is scrapping or working on beside reading or while their Kindle reads to them.
Go enjoy the feel of cardstock

Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips (Crazy Sexy)
An advice-from-the-trenches cancer survival guidebook for
young women with cancer.
Actress and photographer Kris Carr thought she had a hangover,
but a Jivamukti yoga class didn't provide its usual kick-ass cure.
A visit to her doctor confirmed her "liver looked like Swiss
cheese," covered with cancerous tumors. She entered trench
warfare (wearing cowboy boots into the MRI machine,
no less), vowing, "Cancer needed a makeover and I was
just the gal to do it!" She began writing and filming her journey,
documenting her interactions with friends, doctors, alternative
"quacks," blind dates, and other women with cancer--sadly
a growing group.
"I read Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips cover to cover on a a flight
from LA to NY. I laughed out loud, wept quietly, and most of all,
marveled at the magic that is Kris Carr. If Deepak Chopra,
What To Expect When You're Expecting, and Sex and the
City had a love child, it would look just like Kris' Crazy Sexy
Cancer Tips. It is sheer perfection for cancer 'cowgirls' and
their loved ones—colorful, soulful, and intimate."

Thursday dreaming
Dreaming of a time when I could read as much as I wanted to. No worry about laundry, cleaning house or meals (not that I worry about any of those now,,lol).
If you could go to a deserted island with your Kindle, what else would you take with you? Remember it is semi-deserted, There would be running water, warm temps (not hot), electric so we can have our computers and charge our Kindles, meals catered, playing in the sand and lots of Kindlesun and Kindlefun.

I would take my family, of course, and some friends.

Credit card to buy more books and music
Camera
Scrapping room
Wine
Dr Pepper
Sunscreen
Fountain of Youth
I dont think I would need anything else.

Books corrected
This is a notice I got from Amazon:
We're writing about your past Kindle purchase of Deadly Sanctuary by Sylvia Nobel. The version you received contained some errors that have been corrected.
An updated version of Deadly Sanctuary (ASIN:B002HE1K7O) is now available. It’s important to note that when we send you the updated version, you will no longer be able to view any highlights, bookmarks, and notes made in your current version and your furthest reading location will be lost.
I also wrote to them about problems I am having with Dixie Divas. I know that some books have problems with the transfer into e-reader format. I can overlook the miss printing or w ords spac ing that sometimes happen. However, in Dixie Divas there are numbers placed in the middle1254987 of a sent098756 ance or in the middle of a 1245ord. I sent a notice to Kindle support and within a couple of hours I got a response:
I'm sorry to hear about the formatting issue you found with the title "Dixie Divas by Virginia Brown".
I've reported this issue to our kindle development team. They'll work on the formatting of the book and come up with an updated version.
We'll notify you through an email when the updated version of the book is available.
I would say that they have one great customer service department.

Happy Monday
To start off with, there are a few new free books out there but nothing that I was interested in, so I didnt share them. They were either the typical romance or books to learn by. I dont want either in my reading habits right now. If it is going to be romance, I want it to be something different or vampirish. Learning.. not in my reading unless it is history, Who knew??? I didnt like history in school but that was memorizing dates and not the personal stories of what was happening during those times.
I am just about done with The Book Thief and it is tough. I want to see how it ends but at the same time I am afraid of how it ends. I have already cried and laughed and learned reading this book. As much as I am loving it and will give it a '5', it is not one that I would recommend to everyone. This book is not one that I would have normally liked myself, but I find it interesting with all the descriptions and the history.
Description:
Death himself narrates the World War II-era story of Liesel Meminger from the time she is taken, at age nine, to live in Molching, Germany, with a foster family in a working-class neighborhood of tough kids, acid-tongued mothers, and loving fathers who earn their living by the work of their hands. The child arrives having just stolen her first book–although she has not yet learned how to read–and her foster father uses it, The Gravediggers Handbook, to lull her to sleep when shes roused by regular nightmares about her younger brothers death. Across the ensuing years of the late 1930s and into the 1940s, Liesel collects more stolen books as well as a peculiar set of friends: the boy Rudy, the Jewish refugee Max, the mayors reclusive wife (who has a whole library from which she allows Liesel to steal), and especially her foster parents. Zusak not only creates a mesmerizing and original story but also writes with poetic syntax, causing readers to deliberate over phrases and lines, even as the action impels them forward. Death is not a sentimental storyteller, but he does attend to an array of satisfying details, giving Liesels story all the nuances of chance, folly, and fulfilled expectation that it deserves. An extraordinary narrative.

PDF file to your Kindle
I just got some files on my PC that I would like to get onto my Kindle for easy reading. While I was checking this out, I thought I would share what I found.
Plug your Kindle USB cable into the Kindle first, then into a USB slot in your computer. Now, go to My Computer double left click, and a window should open listing the various drives on your computer.Find the USB drive that says Kindle. Double click on it, and a window should open. There should be a Documents folder. Open that folder, you should see all your Kindle books. Now, go back to your desktop, find your PDF file, rightclick and copy. Go back to that Documents folder and paste. Your PDF file is now on your Kindle, Unplug, go to your Kindle Home page, and select.
Suggestion - PDF files handed off directly to Kindle can't use the font adjustment and zoom. If you open your email program, send to your Kindle address (<yourname>@free.kindle.com) with the Subject of Convert, and attach the PDF file, Amazon will send the file back to you converted to Kindle format. Repeat the steps above to move the converted document to your Kindle.

Simply select the "Purchased by Accident? Cancel this Order" option on the order confirmation page displayed on your Kindle.

Six months ago, Andre St. James committed the ultimate one-night
-stand party foul by turning Cynthiana into the spawn of Satan…
also known as a vampire. He insisted he knew they were meant t
o be together forever and ever, so why wait for her to be on the
same page with him to suck the life out of her?
After all, no one understands forever like a vampire. He’s loved
her from the moment he saw her…and he always will.
This book has been previously published and has been revised
from its original release.
Warning: Naughty vampire nookie. Orgasmic biting, a little
bloodsucking, and a hot tub scene that redefines STEAMY.

Just As I Am (Just As I Am Series #1)
Liesel Bonner never questioned her devotion to her country. But
because of her heritage, her country questions her. Despite the

another job because few people trust those with a name as
German as her own. When she begins to suspect that the man
she loves is involved in espionage against America, Liesel knows
she has to do something. As her trust for others crumbles, Liesel
finds that only God’s loving protection—and the enigmatic agent
who is tearing her world apart—can save her

So I will give you a hint for the Kindle. When you find a word that you need to look up the definition, you can see all of the definition and then hit the BACK button and it takes you right back to where you were reading. I have found the BACK button works on a lot of things to get you where you use to be no matter how many pages you go forward.
I mentioned before naming your Kindles. Some names that I have seen are:
Madam Librarian
BOB - battery operated book
Paige
Chris Kindle
My Bookie
Money Pit
Miss Demeanor
Velcro
So that should give everyone some idea on how we love our Kindles.
Have a great word day!

Let's talk
Do you love your Kindle and wonder how you read books in the past?
I know that I do and I have looked at different blogs and discussion groups about the Kindle. One of the funniest topics is about your Kindle being naked and if your Kindle has a name.
So that made me think of what I wanted to name my Kindle. I picked Butch, from the series Brotherhood of the Black Dagger, and added BBF, best boyfriend forever. I guess I could shorten it to 3BF. He isnt naked, he has a skin and a cover.
Is there something that you have questions about your Kindle? I would love to try to answer them or find the answer for you. Bufo is a genius on the Kindle, so I know that he would have the answers.
What else do you do when you arent working, taking care of kids, taking care of grandkids, cleaning, and of course reading? I dont do any of those except read and play on the computer. LOL Of course there is buying scrapbooking supplies at my FAVORITE store, SFA, and buying supplies on line when it is too cold to get out of the house.
What are you reading?
Let's talk!

New Read
I have started reading "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak.
This book was recommended by my SIL as he is an English teacher in high school. "The Book Thief" is one of the books that he recommends to his students.
I will say that at first I was not thrilled with the story as it was confusing. Once I got past the 2% mark then the story really started. The story is told by Death and that is what made it hard for me to understand. I am only at 5% now and I am hooked and dont want to put it down.
The price right now is $5.00 so it is a bargin.
Two of my daughters and I are reading it together, well they are way ahead of me because I had to finish "Night Light". My other daughter is finishing "Night Light" also.
I hope that you look at this book and try it. I will let you you know how it is going as the day or days go on. With the cold temps right now ( 12 for a high with a wind chill of -4), I think I might get a lot of reading done. Oh poor me...lol

Good Morning Kindlites
I am going to try to blog on here daily.
I want to keep you up on what I am reading, what other family members are reading, and what books are free for the day.
I would like to see comments on different books and get suggestions of books to be read.
There will be a list of books that I have purchased or that family members have purchased.
So this is the first day of our reading year,
Go forth and read: during breaks, during lunch, while waiting in line at Sonic or the bank, waiting for the kids, at the kids games, you can hide the Kindle in your lap. Make your spouse happy and let him/her watch what they want on TV and be glad for it. You will have your own time with your mind and your friends in them.
